"Camshootu3asa" is the blog of Campbelltown SA University of the Third Age (U3A) Photoshoot Group.
Each month, during term time, we meet at an agreed location to spend an hour or so taking photographs followed by morning coffee at a nearby coffee shop. Members of the group are encouraged, but not obliged, to post a selection of their "shots" on the blog each month.

A comparison (John)

For the last few years I have used two different cameras, a Canon G10 (the older and simpler camera) and an Olympus E-P3 (newer, more expensive and with 14-42mm and 40-150mm zoom lenses, both with UV filters). I've often wondered at the pros and cons of each, so decided to try a comparison. I took both cameras, set both to the Seaside scene option and then tried to take each shot once on each camera within about 30 seconds of each other. Here are two examples of the results.
The third image in each case is the Canon shot with a minimal amount of Picasa enrichment.

G10 + Picasa "Im feeling lucky"

G10 + a little Picasa "Saturation" +  Picasa "I'm feeling lucky"
As always - the "eye of the beholder" is the final test.

Shadows Beth

Playing with shadows (John)

In spite of the cloud cover it was possible to snatch moments of full and partial sunlight enough to cast some shadows. Mostly it was a matter of standing and waiting.

Some situations cast shadows even in low light.
